Ray Farmer, Director of Scouting

Overseeing the athlete selection for the Academy's elite division is Ray Farmer, former General Manager of the Cleveland Brown. A Duke graduate, former NFL athlete, front office executive and father to two young athletes including an 8th grader wide receiver, Ray has a deep understanding of athlete development from youth football to the NFL.

His near 15 years of front office NFL experience and cutting edge philosophy in scouting and athlete evaluation will be a major ingredient at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy. Ray will oversee the athlete selection process and evaluation for elite events, drive and expand the world-class football curriculum and provide exciting and unique break-out information to parents to help their son's exciting football journey.

Gary Howard, National Scouting Director

Coach Howard spent more than 15 years coaching football at many levels and then translating football from the TV booth as a TV analyst for Comcast Sports. His recruiting company, NorCal Football Scouting became a top recruiting source to the college market and was acquired with several other companies to form the XOS Digital Recruiting Group.

Coach Gary was asked to run the XOS Digital division where he built the nation’s largest recruiting business providing athlete data and evaluations to over 200 colleges nationally and featuring over 80% of all Division I schools.

His national network of scouts provided evaluations of 30,000 potential college football athletes serving as the backbone of today’s college recruiting world.

As a 17 year football scout, Coach Gary worked with the NCAA and many partners including Nike's Opening, the Elite 11, ESPN, Fox Sports, Dave Campbells Texas Football,  and has served on the selection team of the US Army Bowl on NBC and the Under Armour All-American Game on ESPN.

HOFA ImageCoach Gary chaired the selection team for the NFL and Hall of Fame Academy in 2015 and now serves as a full-time national scouting director of the Hall of Fame Academy evaluating and selecting the nation's top athletes for national showcase opportunities.
